Houston Spring Date Ideas

It’s springtime in Houston and you know what that means: summer’s sweltering temperatures are just around the corner! Before it gets too hot, consider trying one of our 5 Houston spring date ideas.

Vineyard Tour and Wine Tasting

If you can sneak away during the week, try taking a walking tour of a vineyard! Haak Vineyard and Winery offers walking tours of their lush vineyard Monday through Wednesday. This is one of our favorite Houston spring date ideas as it allows you to explore outside a bit, but retreat inside if the fickle Houston weather gets too hot. If you can’t make it during the work week, they do offer wine tastings and tours 7 days a week. Keep in mind that the beauty and location of this vineyard and winery make it a popular destination, so make sure to call ahead to ensure that they aren’t booked for a private party.

Gator Watching

This may be the most daring of our Houston spring date ideas! Just south of Houston off of 288 is Brazos Bend State Park. If you’re looking for a fun, outdoorsy date, try visiting there! Day activities include hiking, fishing, biking, etc, and they often have guided tours and activities such as nature hikes, bird watching events, and educational demonstrations at the Nature Center. Spring is the perfect time for alligator watching, but make sure to read and follow the instructions to help you stay safe! To make this date just a bit longer, visit on a Saturday and stay until after dark when the George Observatory opens. They have exhibits, an expedition center, discovery dome, and telescopes that you can use to view different celestial bodies!

Picking Strawberries

Though this may be a little bit different than the rest of our Houston spring date ideas, it is still lots of fun! Most people know that the fruit you pick yourself is always the sweetest, so take your sweetheart on a strawberry picking date. Froberg’s Farm is beautiful farm where you can pick your own strawberries, and purchase other homegrown product such as kale, corn, peppers, tomatoes, etc. They also have fresh baked homemade pies, homemade friend pies, homemade preserves, and even a smokehouse for the omnivores! Turn this date into an all-day experience by picking your fruit and then cooking it together.

Catching A Movie At The Drive In

If dinner and a movie is working for you but you want to try something a little bit different, try catching a movie at the drive-in! At The Showboat Drive In, admission for 2 films is only $7 and the snack bar has everything from traditional movie snacks like popcorn to cappuccinos to cheeseburgers. For this spring date idea, consider taking a truck or a hatchback, bring lots of blankets and pillows, and create a comfy nest where you can stretch out and enjoy the movies.

Taking A Bike Tour

After you have lived in the area for a while, it can be easy to forget how beautiful Houston is and how much history it has. For a fun, athletic spring date idea, try taking a bike tour! Bayou City Bike Tours offers several bike tour options including a Downtown History Tour, a Buffalo Bayou Bike Tour, and customized group tours if you want to get several couples together for a private ride. They provide cruisers and helmets, so all you need to do is show up and enjoy this fun spring date idea!
